About Advance Diploma in Critical Care Management
Critical care is an upcoming specialty and presently has a huge shortage of trained dedicated manpower. Doctors are a major workforce in ICU teams. This course has been proposed to impart structured critical care training to doctors to improve patient management skills.
Eligibility Criteria
- Medical graduates with MBBS, registered with MCI/State Medical Council registration.
- Nursing Graduates with a minimum qualification of B.Sc. Nursing / PC-BSC Nursing, registered with State Nursing Council.
- GNM Nurses with minimum experience of one year working in Critical/emergency care units
- Graduates in Pharmacy (B,Pahrm, Pharam D etc), Physiotherapy (BPT) and other allied professions in health care, working and/or potential to work in critical care with minimum of six months' experience.
On completion of this course, the candidate will be able to
- Recognize common rhythm disturbances.
- Interpret blood gases and assess acid-base status.
- Provide basic ventilator orders for most patients.
- Classify shock and outline hemodynamic patterns.
- Get awareness of the ethical principles pertinent to critically ill patients, especially end of life care and issues around withdrawing and withholding life support.
- Get familiar with airway management and indications for intubation.
- Use inotropes and vasopressors appropriately
- Interpret an electrocardiogram and recognize important life-threatening findings.
